Keith Haring: Radiant Vision
Villa Reale in Monza. From 30 September 2022 to 29 January 2023
Keith Haring's art is preparing to arrive in Monza. The city of Lombardy has been chosen to present the private collection, which has already met with considerable success in Missouri, New York, Florida and Pennsylvania.
Among lithographs, silkscreens, drawings on paper and posters, Keith Haring: Radiant Vision aims to tell the story of the artist's eccentric personality but also of his great artistic talent and how the artist managed in a short time to go from metropolitan drawings to staggering sales in the most important art galleries.
The exhibition, to be held at the Orangery of the Villa Reale in Monza, presents nine sections, each dedicated to a specific aspect of Haring's life and work. From iconography to the understanding of the symbols and figures recurring in Haring's works such as stylised children and barking dogs, passing through the activism that the artist has always tried to pursue through his artworks.
The more than one hundred artworks collected will tell the story of Pop artist Keith Haring and his art.
LaChapelle: make BELIEVE
Fotografiska New York. 9 October 2022 to 8 January 2023
Artist David LaChapelle's first solo exhibition in a New York museum, and the artist's largest realised exhibition in the United States. LaChapelle: make BELIEVE presents 150 artworks created between 1984 and 2022 that will explore the thematic range of his shots along with the different techniques he has experimented with throughout his career. Starting in the 1980s, one will be able to explore the theme of religion as well as themes dedicated to environmental disasters, various political issues, AIDS, celebrity iconography and nature.
Among the various shots dedicated to celebrities, there will be on display the last photo that LaChapelle took of Andy Warhol, his great mentor, on 22 November 1986, three months before the father of Pop Art passed away.
"It is a turning point, and in this exhibition there are some pieces from that first exhibition that have stood the test of time" - David LaChapelle
LaChapelle's latest works exhibited at the Fotografiska Museum in New York deal with the existential crisis of man's survival. This crisis that man experiences is also caused, according to the artist, by the overly violent media and by music and art that are produced without a clear and focused direction.
"Art has always been a reflection of the time in which we live" - David LaChapelle
Andy Warhol: La pubblicità della Forma
Fabbrica del Vapore. From 22 October 2022 to 26 March 2023
The exhibition Andy Warhol: la pubblicità della Forma at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan will be dedicated to the father of Pop Art, Andy Warhol. The exhibition traces the artist's four decades of activity through original paintings, unique artworks, historical silkscreens, drawings, polaroids, photographs and other memorabilia such as the original covers designed and autographed by Warhol himself.
The artist's art has had the opportunity to change and twist throughout his forty years of activity. Between new techniques, new subjects and significant collaborations, Warhol has come to be an all-round artist. The exhibition traces Warhol's art from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
If in the first decade of his career the artist established himself as a designer, it was in the 1960s that Warhol's fame exploded thanks to the creation of iconic masterpieces such as Campbell's Soup and the portraits of Marilyn Monroe.
It is from the 1970s, however, that the artist manages to have a relevant social role that goes beyond his being an artist. The exhibition will investigate Warhol's sociological dualism of these years and his complex role, showing us how his artistic revolution influenced the history of art and beyond.
The artist's last decade, and the last part of the exhibition, is dedicated to the 1980s, a period in which Warhol was a guide and teacher to the new generation of American artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf and Keith Haring.
Invader Rubikcubist
Mima, Brussels. From 24 June 2022 to 8 January 2023
Street Artist Invader's first solo exhibition dedicated solely to Rubikcubisme, Invader Rubikcubisme presents more than one hundred of the artist's artworks created over a career spanning more than twenty years of cube creations at Mima in Brussels.
The term Rubikcubisme was coined by the artist himself in 2005 and refers to his works made from and inspired by the famous-coloured puzzle with which he creates his works in the studio. From the first sculptures to the series dedicated to the figure of the villain, entitled the Rubik Bad Men, to the masterpieces of art history revisited in six colours (Rubik Masterpieces) or his ideal disco (Rubik Low Fidelity), Invader Rubikcubist traces almost 20 years of the artist's cube creations.
The works created using this technique are bound to an understanding of the object and only reveal themselves to the trained eye. Almost abstract at first glance, they reveal themselves to the viewer when he turns away, blinks or looks at them through the screen of a digital camera.
Da Warhol a Banksy
Palazzo Bertamini, Fiorenzuola d'Arda. From 1 October to 30 December 2022
An important exhibition in a small town: this is the premise of the exhibition "From Warhol to Banksy" in which the artworks of Pop and contemporary artists dialogue with the paintings of the stately Palazzo Bertamini in Fiorenzuola d'Arda.
Among the most important artworks on display will be Andy Warhol's Marilyn and Banksy's Girl with Balloon. Together with these two famous and important artists there will be artworks by Obey, Mr. Brainwash and Angelo Accardi.
"Such a great exhibition, in a small town like Fiorenzuola d'Arda, represents the exact overturning of the canons and stereotypes to which the public is accustomed. For me it is an honour, and yet another great achievement, to be able to bring an event of such media relevance here: a challenge that was initially considered impossible, but with the help of an active and far-sighted Municipal Administration we have made a dream possible, not only for the people of Piacenza, but for all the visitors who will come to our municipality for the first time. Great results necessarily require great ambitions' - Luca Bravo, curator of the exhibition
With the collaboration of the Municipal Administration of Fiorenzuola d'Arda and the Deodato Arte gallery, the exhibition will transform Fiorenzuola d'Arda into an artistic and cultural epicentre for three months, attracting visitors from all over Italy.
