The "daily rebellion striving for freedom"
"Nonsense makes sense" tells of the "daily rebellion striving for freedom", as Marcuse would say. Angelo Accardi wants to convey this rebellion for the benefit of anyone who wants to approach contemporary art, but also for those who decide to appropriate it for their own personal or collective daily rebellion.
For the occasion, Deodato Art Gallery is changing its look: Accardi's works will be immersed in a kaleidoscopic game of graphic patterns. This is a completely new visual experience that will also be shared outside of the gallery with street gallery interventions set up in hidden corners of the Milanese suburbs, in a sort of augmented reality, real instead of virtual.
Angelo Accardi: surreal scenarios and references
Angelo Accardi comes from Sapri, in the province of Salerno. He delves into an obsessive artistic research on the human figure, which he distorts and shapes into a dreamlike and symbolic dimension.
His canvases represent surreal urban scenarios (or interiors) populated with references to "high" and Pop culture. Simpsons characters coexist with references to works by Klimt, Minions (characters from "Despicable Me") and Renaissance paintings, Mickey Mouse and Caravaggio.
Iconic animals in his recent works, ostriches become an emblem of the disorientation that his works provoke in the spectator. Making use of a decisive stroke - yet attentive to perspective and detail - he shows us a hidden reality.
