Banksy a Cervia

Cervia is gearing up to welcome one of the world's most iconic and enigmatic artists: Banksy. From March 1 to June 2, 2024, the Magazzino del Sale – Torre will transform into the stage for an extraordinary exhibition curated by Roberto Mastroianni, promoted by the Municipality of Cervia.
Banksy, the English artist who has shaped the creative visions of an entire generation, will showcase some of his most representative works from the last few decades. These creations are renowned worldwide for their disruptive force and their transcendent, political, and social messages that interpret the complexity of contemporary reality through the swift and intuitive strokes of street art.
Among the exhibited works, a particularly unique version of Love is in the Air (Flower Thrower) stands out – the famous "flower thrower." This depiction in a classical-inspired triptych portrays a young person throwing a bouquet of flowers, symbolizing an anti-militaristic revolution capable of overturning the common sense of urban warfare. Created in 2019, this work is a composition of three screenprints displayed with their original frames, a rarity in exhibitions dedicated to Banksy.
In addition to Love is in the Air (Flower Thrower), other iconic works will be on display, including Girl with Balloon, considered Banksy's most popular image. Painted for the first time in 2002 as a stencil on a London wall, it was voted in 2017 as the Britons' most beloved artwork, accompanied by a brief text from the artist: "There is always hope."
The exhibition will provide the audience with the opportunity to immerse themselves in Banksy's artistic imagination, an author who has dominated the global cultural scene for over two decades. His ability to tackle current issues, including the scenarios of war, through his artistic messages will once again be showcased.
