Exhibitions in Trieste 2023: David LaChapelle

Among the exhibitions in Trieste, today you can admire the surrealist and dreamlike works of David LaChapelle. The Fulmini exhibition is divided into two sections:

  • the first part immortalises the decade at the turn of the new millennium in an irreverent and ironic way, through the representation of personalities from the worlds of music, cinema, fashion and politics;
  • the second projects his work into a new, more aesthetic, but also more intimate and mystical dimension, in which his impact on the art of the past and his search for himself in nature emerge.

Some of the works in the exhibition are part of the artist's most iconic and best-known series such as the After the Deluge series with works like After the Deluge: Museum, After The Deluge: Statue and After The Deluge: Cathedral and the Live your Best Life series with works like Death by Hamburger, All U Can Eat and I Buy a Big Car for Shopping.

Among the works on display will also be some from the Deodato Arte Gallery collection.

David LaChapelle - The Exhibition and its Message

The works in the Fulmini exhibition present both natural phenomena and dreamlike situations as well as the chaos of paradise. All these situations, at opposite ends of the spectrum, generate a disruptive force, capable of crystallising and illuminating the moment.

The exhibition thus gives the artist the opportunity to lay bare his reflections on humanity but also more intimate reflections with shots populated by angels, saints, flowers and mythological figures.

The images are processed by LaChapelle with pictorial interventions on the photographic negatives: a technique that allows the artist to obtain works of a unique and unmistakable style. The narrative and expressive language of David LaChapelle's allegory is characterised by a system of metaphors that revolve around "an allegory of the present time".
