Deodato Arte x Campari Soda together for a unique design collaboration at FuoriSalone 2021. Campari Group presented DUO, a stool with a unique and exclusive design that recalls the iconic silhouette of the Campari Soda bottle. Designed in 1932 by the futurist Fortunato Depero, the bottle is shaped like an upside-down goblet.
The DUO stool reinterprets #unlabelled and "to be shared" the symbol of unity and conviviality born in bars. Thanks to its sharability, DUO lends itself to being divided into two identical halves so that the conical drink Campari Soda can be shared together at aperitif time.
The work is part of the second chapter of Design Connection, a project created to reinterpret the iconic Campari Soda bottle in new forms and design objects. This year the project has seen the collaboration with the artist and designer Marco Oggian, already author of the first work NFT Campari Soda.
"Nothing was left to chance in the creation of DUO, and the closing and opening system lives in perfect cohesion with the overall architecture. In addition, the object could only be in one colour: Campari Soda red!" - Marco Oggian
The stool will be reproduced in a limited edition of 32 to celebrate and commemorate the year the brand was born, 1932. Deodato Arte was chosen for the initiative by Campari Soda to make its channels available for the sale of DUO The proceeds from the sale of these 32 pieces will be donated to a training institute active in the world of design, with the aim of creating scholarships for young talents.
Marco Oggian: a designer with a simple and striking style
Designer Marco Oggian, originally from Lake Maggiore, defines his style as simple and impactful. Using pure shapes and bright colours, he manages to deal with iconic moments of contemporary life, from the Syrian war to the uprisings of the Black Lives Matter movement.
His professional career began as a graphic designer for several brands. He then contributed to the creation of the film agency "True Color Films", specializing in extreme sports in Europe, and has since had the opportunity to broaden his artistic horizons working with big names such as Nike, Zara, Vogue, Samsung, Saatchi & Saatchi and now Campari Soda. His works are exhibited in numerous galleries around the world.
Campari Soda and the world of design
The collaboration between Campari Soda and the world of design is born from the desire and aim to strengthen the bond between the two. This partnership has been going on since 1932 and has become stronger than ever over the years. In the early years of the brand's birth, the aperitif became a moment for meeting, getting to know each other and enjoying being together. At the Camparino in Milan, people drank Campari bitters with a splash of soda. It was a Milanese custom that would later spread throughout Italy.
Davide Campari decided to combine Campari and soda in a small bottle and have it designed by futurist Fortunato Depero. The bottle thus became an icon of the aperitif and the habit of drinking Campari with a splash of soda became the fashion for drinking Camparisoda.
Despite the brand's 90 years, Campari Soda has always had the ability to renew itself. Today it does so once again through collaboration with unique, young designers. The desire to approach this new generation of young talents is also expressed by Giorgia Vago, Aperitifs Marketing Manager of the Campari Group.
"This being extremely simple and unconventional is exactly what Generation Z is looking for in a brand at the moment. I really believe in approaching this new generation, which until a few years ago we didn't see as being so close to the brand, but now thanks to design it seems closer than ever. - Giorgia Vago
