We announce with great pleasure the arrival of a new artist among the ranks of Deodato Arte, thanks also to the collaboration with the Wunderkammern gallery! He is the French street artist Invader, the one who has spread in numerous cities all over the world the iconic 8-bit aliens of Space Invaders, the arcade videogame of 1978.
His art is closely linked to the street and to the urban environment: since his first work in Paris in 1998, Invader has installed in cities all over the world his mosaics representing the aliens of the videogame that inspired him. He thus gives life to real "invasions", accompanying his work with catalogues and maps that challenge the spectator to find his works.
In this way the artist manages to alter the urban space, making passers-by rediscover the city streets now "invaded" by icons of the younger generations and of the rise of digital technologies and videogames in the 80s. And in a perfect fusion between past and present, the mosaic technique, as traditional as ever, imitates the pixels of the 8-bit graphics of Space Invaders.
Among the other projects of the street artist, we highlight the Rubikcubism series, works made entirely with Rubik cubes assembled to create the desired image. Among bad men from media and reality, reproductions of masterpieces of art history and music albums, one of the most appreciated works is undoubtedly the Invader Mona Lisa.
Space Invader, Street Art and Market
Due to the essence of his art, Invader has only recently joined the world of the art galleries and collectors. His works made in studio, for the market, are therefore very rare and difficult to find, not very widespread in the Italian and international market. Especially for this reason Deodato Arte is particularly proud to be able to offer its clients a selection of works by Invader, artist nowadays among the most requested in the street art market.
Among the most recent auction results in more than one case the estimates have been much exceeded. In 2019, the work by Invader Tk_119 (2014) was worth $1 million (Invader's current auction record) and several of his other works have been auctioned for more than $100,000. Today he is among the most sought-after street artists and his works are making their way into museums and collections around the world.
Stay tuned and don’t miss any new arrival!
