THE ARTWORK

-

An acetate film is a photographic negative or positive transferred to a transparency, in order to be the base of another kind of print. For Andy Warhol it was the last original step prior to the screenprint. In this case this is an original, unique black and white photographic positive showing Bob Colacello, an american writer that in 1970 wrote a review of Andy Warhol's film Trash, catching the attention of Warhol, and gave him the possibility to write for Interview Magazine a new art and fashion magazine Warhol started to publish at the time. This acetate film is part of the Lowell's collection, approximately 10 inches by 14 inches from Andy Warhol's Factory via Chromacomp Inc. property of the Lowell family. Very important because it was a test for the Ladies & Gentlemen series, indeed Warhol never created a silkscreen from it.
