Henri Matisse - Coquelcots

This limited edition lithograph of 6,500 prints by Henri Matisse, Coquelcots was created in 1958.

One of the best-known artists of the 20th century and an exponent of Fauvism, Henri Matisse combined pure colours in a profound exploration of colour and the moods it can convey. With works such as Harmony in Redor Music, the artist expresses nostalgic and evocative feelings, simplifying forms to make colour the true protagonist of the work.

Through the measured juxtaposition of primary and secondary colours, the artist's ecosystem comes to life, gradually moving away from natural description.

The work comes from the 1958 illustrated book 'VERVE' and measures 53x36 cm.
