THE ARTWORK

-

Mr. Savethewall is an artist from Como who uses the derivation and situationist détournement method to create works interpreting themes and issues of contemporary society in a playful, ironic or sacrilegious key. Mr. Savethewall does "deconstruction and reconstruction of linguistic codes" via the methos and techniques of Street Art, primarily using stencils on supports of urban derivation and mass consumption like cardboard, brown paper, wood, metal, and recycled materials.

As his pseudonym declaims, Mr. Savethewall does not paint on walls: he respects and "saves" them by temporarily putting up his works with four pieces of yellow sticky tape in the corners. His first works, stuck on the city walls around Como, were removed by passers-by for framing and that aroused the interest and curiosity of the art system. Mr. Savethewall thus made his entance into the art galleries and public spaces.
