New York Flat n°2 del 25/2/2008

In the project Flat Iron, Maurizio Galimberti made a series of mosaics made of Polaroid pictures to the famous Flatiron Building on 5th Ave in New York taken from different angles and perspectives. This particular print is the edition 1/5, based on the original New York Flat No. 2 of 25/2/2008, in which the shadow of another building covers a part of the flatiron in a nice blue sky. 

Digital C-Type printing by Maurizio Galimberti. The artwork is printed on plexiglass and is applied to an elegant metallic mirrored support, 3 cm wide. The print is filed at No 3360 and provided with certificate of authenticity supplied from the artist's archive. Published in the catalogue Flat Iron edited by Valentina Galimberti, at page 61.

MAURIZIO GALIMBERTI

Maurizio Galimberti was born in 1956 in Como. He is a famous Italian artist and photographer. While he was very young, he developd a passion for photography and began to participate to severals contests.

At first he used the analogic photographic film, but then he switched to polaroids, so to immediately see the results of his photos, without waiting. In the early ‘90s, Galimberti left the family business in order to dedicate himself only to photography. In 1991 he started to collaborate with Polaroid, becoming an official Sponsor. In 1995 is published the book “Polaroid Pro Art”, and in 1997 his polaroid mosaics entered in the art collections.

The technique used by Galimberti has been influenced by Boccioniand Duchamp, and it consists in creating a collage of polaroids, each one portraying a different particular of the same represented image. The different polaroids are then brought close together to recreate the image into a collage.

He realized portraits of celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Robert de Niro and Johnny Depp. The turning point was when Galimberti met the collector Fumagalli, because it was thanks to him that the artist began to exhibit in international cities, like Venice, Berlin and New York, of which he created some beautiful portfolios.

The artwork is delicate and requires a custom-made wooden box to protect it during transportation. Delivery to EU countries takes 5-15 business days.

If you live in Europe (CEE) the price we show you already includes taxes. The works are taxed either with VAT exposed (22%) or VAT with the margin, if you are a private person you do not change anything, if you are a company: in In the first case, you will recover the VAT, in the second, no. When you put the works in the cart you will be separated from the vat exposed.

If you DON'T LIVE IN EU and you want an EXTRA EU shipping

Many works (not all) have an exposed VAT of 22% included in the price, this vat will be spun off! Obviously you will pay the VAT to your destination country, if due. For example if you live in Switzerland you save 22% but you will have to pay 8.1% to your customs, if you live in Hong Kong you will save 22% and you will not have to pay anything to your customs (lucky you).

PAYMENT

If you complete the purchase on the site you can use a credit card, or you can make a bank transfer. Payment in cash is accepted up to 5,000 euros physically in one of our stores. Payments in BitCoin or cryptocurrencies are NOT accepted.
