THE ARTWORK

-

Super David - yellow, work in retouchè from the series A Hero Nerver dies by Molina Josè. The artist, in this case, combines the face of a famous sculpture, Michelangelo’s David, with the clothes of Superman, famous character of American comics. The Lego character is put on top on a background in yellow tones, where can  be found references to the comics about the hero Superman of DC Comics and the world of American comics in general.

As in the case of the series dedicated to Wonder Mona Lisa, the artist’s intent is not the exaltation of the American myth but the recovery of our culture through a more accessible language.

In this series of works entitled A Hero Never dies, Josè Molina uses playful and lively tones of color, without however sacrificing his visual figurative language.

The theme of the game is used by the artist, together with the masterpieces of Western art and the characters of our time, to propose an art accessible to all.
